Dakota Prairie Museum Scholarship Due: March 1st
The Dacotah Prairie Museum Foundation Scholarship is open to all Brown County, S.D. students (either residents of the county or attend a school/homeschool within the county) who plan to attend any technical, 2-year or 4-year accredited post-secondary school in South Dakota.
NSU-Hatterscheidt Scholarship Due: March 1st
They must have a 3.0 GPA and enroll full time. Must have financial need and have applied for financial aid.
American Chemical Society Scholars Program Due: March 1st
Must be African American, or Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian. Must plan to major in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology, or another chemistry-related science AND plan to pursue a career in a chemistry-related science as well . Must demonstrate high academic achievement in Chemistry or Science and have a 3.0 or higher GPA.
WRCA Foundation Scholarship Due: March 1st
High school senior with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Must be the son or daughter of a working ranch cowboy. A working ranch cowboy is any person, male or female, deriving a significant portion of their income taking care of cattle on a cattle ranch. Day workers are included.
SEG Scholarship Due: March 1st
High school senior planning to pursue a college curriculum directed toward a career in applied geophysics.
American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year Scholarships Due: March 1st
The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will recieve a $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarships awarded will be granted in the amount of $2500 each.
American Legion Auxiliary Junior Member Loyalty Scholarship Due: March 1st
American Legion Auxiliary Junior members are the future of our organization. To reward those who retain their membership into adulthood, the American Legion Auxiliary offers the Junior Member Loyalty Scholarship to current college students. Ten scholarships, in the amount of $2,500 each, will be awarded to a current college student. Two scholarships will be awarded in each division of the American Legion Auxiliary. The scholarship is a grant; not a loan.
American Legion Auxiliary-Department of South Dakota Scholarship Due: March 1st
Objective: South Dakota American Legion Auxiliary shall award annually two $500 scholarships for a college/university and two $500 scholarships for technical institutions, in order to further education beyond high school level.
Eligibility: The applicant shall be a. the child or grandchild of a veteran, or the child or grandchild of a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. b. not under sixteen (16) nor over twenty-two (22) years of age. c. financially unable to attend a university or technical institute after graduation from high school. d. a resident of South Dakota. e. a first time winner of this award; an applicant who has previously been awarded this scholarship is ineligible.
Requirements: The applicant shall submit a. Original article of not more than 500 words on “Why I want to attend a College/University” or “Why I want to attend a Technical Institute.” b. Copy of high school or current college/ university/technical institute grades. c. Completed application, stating actual need of financial assistance. d. All required documents to Department Education Chairman, postmarked by March 1. e. Letters of Recommendations.
$400 Senior Member Scholarship-American Legion Auxiliary Due: March 1st
Objective: South Dakota American Legion Auxiliary shall award annually a $400 scholarship to be used for attending either a technical institution or college/university.
Eligibility: The applicant must be a Senior member, and have been a Junior or Senior member of the South Dakota American Legion Auxiliary for at least three years, and be a current member. She must be in need of financial assistance.
Requirements: The applicant must be attending, or will be attending, a college/university or technical institute. She shall submit (1) Two letters of recommendations, one from a local or Department officer of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the other from a community, school or church representative. (2) a resume of Auxiliary/community/school activities, honors and awards. (3) an essay of 200-400 words entitled Why I am a Member of the American Legion Auxiliary. (4) a copy of her most recent high school/university transcript. (5) the completed application to include financial need.
Thelma Foster Junior Scholarship American Legion Auxiliary Due: March 1st
There will be one scholarship award in the amount of $300 to a Junior American Legion Auxiliary member as a gift, not a loan. This scholarship is awarded to Junior Members who are not over the age of 18. If applying for this scholarship then you do not apply for the Thelma Foster Senior Scholarship which is for members that are 19 years old or older. This Scholarship is based on the age not the year in school. 1. Candidates shall be Junior members of the South Dakota American Legion Auxiliary, and said Junior to have held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary for the past three years and must now hold a Junior membership card for the current year, or have turned 18 years of age in her Senior year of school.
Thelma Foster Senior Scholarship American Legion Auxiliary Due: March 1st
There will be one scholarship award in the amount of $300.00 to a senior American Legion Auxiliary member as a gift. Applicant must have been a member of the South Dakota American Legion Auxiliary for the past three years and a current senior member this year.
American Agri-Women Daughters of American Agriculture Scholarships Due: March 1st
Open to 18 year old high school seniors. Must be the daughter or close relative of a farmer, rancher or other person employed in Agriculture. Must show financial need and knowledge of or work experience in Agriculture.
Horatio Alger Scholarship for HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS Due: March 1st
Must be a full-time high school JUNIOR; Must exhibit a strong commitment to pursue a Bachelor's degree from a post-secondary school in the United States; Must demonstrate critical financial need; Must be involved in co-curricular and community service activities; Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity; Must have a 2.0 or higher GPA.
Horatio Alger Senior Scholarship: Due: March 1st
As one of the nation's largest need-based college scholarship programs in the country, the Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. While many programs are directed primarily to recognizing academic achievement or leadership potential, the Horatio Alger Association seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as have critical financial need.
REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible to apply for any of the Horatio Alger Undergraduate Scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States; be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2025 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation
Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)
Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)
Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and
Be a United States citizen

South Dakota Farmer Bureau Scholarship Due March 1st
Applicant, applicant’s parents or guardians must be a current member of South Dakota Farm Bureau and must have been a member for 2 years.

Center for Cyber Safety and Education by ISC2 Scholarships Due: March 3rd
ISC2 and its Center for Cyber Safety and Education are deeply committed to encouraging and supporting students pursuing a degree with a focus on cybersecurity, information assurance, or similar field. Dacotah Bank Scholarships Due: March 3rd
There are 29 $2000 scholarships and one $10,000 scholarship. To be eligible, you need to be attending a college in North Dakota, South Dakota, or Minnesota next year and you or your immediate family must have a Dacotah Bank Account.
ITC Scholarship Due: March 4th
Applicants' parents or guardians must maintain at least one ITC service and students must plan on attending a post-secondary institution in SD or MN. ITC will award one scholarship for every school district within the ITC service area. Print off the application and submit it to Mrs. Lynde. Your school will choose one recipient. This is a guaranteed scholarship for one Langford senior!
First Dakota National Bank Scholarship Due: March 4th
First Dakota National Bank understands the importance of higher education. We support our communities and the youth within them. In order to encourage students to pursue furthering their education, First Dakota is proud to offer scholarships ranging from $1,000 - $5,000 up to a total of $20,000. At the time of application, student must have a First Dakota checking account and demonstrate satisfactory account maintenance.
Agriculture Future of America (AFA) Scholarship Due: March 6th

Curtis Marvin Hohn Scholarship Due: March 10th
The competitive $1,000 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of a South Dakota High School attending a public or private college, university, or technical school in South Dakota and pursuing studies in history, political science, or water resources related studies.
Criteria:
The competitive $1,000 scholarships are awarded to seniors graduating from a South Dakota High School attending a public or private college, university, or technical school in South Dakota.
(Preference will be given to applicants pursuing studies in history, political science, or water resources (i.e., water conservation; water quality; hydraulics; water systems management and operation; or environment)
Applicants for the Curtis Marvin Hohn Legacy Scholarship will reflect the values that embodied Curt Hohn’s life. These characteristics may include, but not limited to:
Personal integrity, individual character, and courage
Leadership in school and community
Demonstrated involvement in civic affairs
Participation in organizations that shape the school and community
Individual leadership to reform policies that benefit the public good of the school and community

High school senior living with a disability. Student must plan to attend a college/university/technical school and major in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Law, Business, or a related field. Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA and demonstrate financial need.
FEEA Scholarships Due: March 13th
Student must be the child, step-child, or legal dependent of full or part time permanent federal civilian or postal workers employed with the federal government for more than three years.

The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation administers over 60 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. We award $500,000 in scholarships each year to students around the state. The website will actually match you with scholarship you qualify for.

Ally Dakota Development Scholarship: Due: March 15th
Ally Dakota Development, your trusted ally for small business finance, is pleased to offer five - $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing a post-secondary degree in a business/finance related field.
To be eligible for an Ally Dakota Development scholarship, you must meet all of the following criteria:

Avera Scholars at Mount Marty Due: March 15th
The Avera Scholars Program invites high school seniors planning to major in nursing at Mount Marty University to apply for $20,000 in funding for the third and fourth years of schooling (a total of $40,000).
Critical Needs Teaching Scholarship Due: March 15th
The purpose of the program is to encourage South Dakota's high school graduates to obtain their postsecondary education in South Dakota for teaching, to remain in the state upon completion of their education, and to contribute to the state and its citizens by working in a critical need teaching area. Coach Russ Memorial Scholarship Due: March 15th
Applicants for this scholarship award must meet the following minimum criteria:
*Graduate from a South Dakota high school;
*Attain a minimum 3.2 GPA through 7 semesters of high school;
*Provide a list (resume') of extra-curricular and community service activities;
*Submit a 300 to 500-word essay detailing a personal story which illustrates an event in which the applicant demonstrated resourcefulness and optimism in the face of adversity;
*Provide contact information (phone and email) of two character references who can speak on behalf of the applicant's ability to demonstrate perseverance. Contacts will also be asked to speak of dedication to the service of others. Character references may not be related to applicant. Please inform character references that they may be contacted by members of the selection committee.
South Dakota Firefighters Association Scholarship Due: March 15th
Son or daughter of any member (living, deceased or retired) of a fire department in South Dakota or an active member of a junior fire department in South Dakota.
Howard Memorial Fund-NSU Due: March 21st
Applicants for the Howard Memorial Scholarship must be residents of Brown County OR plan to attend Northern State University regardless of where they live. Requires application, page one of the federal income tax return, and a transcript. Scholarships up to $3,000 available.

Bellator Motorcycle Club Scholarship Due: March 26th
Students need to be attending an in-state college or technical school in the Fall. Applicants do not need to be the top of their class. The committee is looking for students who are hard working and driven to succeed.
American Legion Legacy Scholarship Due: March 26th
Children of U.S. military members who died while on active duty on or after September 11. 2001 or children of post-9/11 veterans having been assigned a combined rating of 50 percent or greater by the Department of Veterans Affairs also qualify.
First Bank and Trust Scholarships Due: March 28th
To be eligible for a First Bank & Trust Scholarship, you must meet all of the following criteria: • Be a First Bank & Trust Checking and/or Savings account holder • Be a U.S. citizen • Be a high school senior or full-time undergraduate student, attending an accredited post-high school educational institution • Have not previously received a First Bank & Trust Scholarship • Employees and members of the Board of Directors of First Bank & Trust, its affiliates, and the immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings, and children, and each of their respective spouses regardless of where they live) and persons living in the households of each of these individuals whether related or not, are not eligible.
Web Water Scholarship Due: March 28th
Three $1,000 scholarships ($3,000 total) will be awarded to graduating seniors who reside within the WEB Water service area and are enrolled or plan to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited institution of higher learning, including a vocational/technical school, two-year or four-year college, or university in the fall of the year the scholarship is given.
DSG Education Connection Fund Scholarship Due: March 31st
Student must reside in South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Minnesota or Wisconsin. Student must have been accepted to a program in a trade profession (such as electrician, plumber, HVAC/R technician, utility worker, etc.)
Western Agency Due: March 31st

There are 3 scholarships available. The recipient will be a current year graduate of a South Dakota High School. The recipient shall have graduated in the upper 50% of the class. Students must be going into an Agricultural/Conservation related field and attending a South Dakota College or Vocational School.

The Grand Lodge A. F. & A. M. of South Dakota will award several scholarships of $2,000 each year to South Dakota residents who plan to attend a public or private college, university or technical school. Preference will be given to students attending a school in South Dakota.
